Today’s paradox is that there have never been produced more movies and TV shows, while simultaneously there’s a lot less quality. Therefore, in the massive pool of shows and films, it’s hard to find something unique.
In order not to waste your time, this article will help you decide what to watch this weekend. It includes various genres and films, picked by Opullex members.
Let’s begin.
What Is Opullex, By the Way?
Opullex is primarily a symbol of creativity and metal art. It has artists who can transform metal into art that combines modern design with tradition.
Aside from creating metal art pieces, they also design custom metal art about films, TV shows, fictional characters, etc. You can get personalized art pieces, uniquely tailored to your desires and requirements. For instance, you love Batman, and you want a metal sculpture that resembles him as your favorite character. Well, they can create one according to your ideas.
A List of What to Watch This Weekend
Opullex members also love movies and TV shows. And since you can’t decide what to watch this weekend, here’s a list of their favorite ones that will help you pick something.
Why bother searching for a movie online when you can check out an already-made list?
Let’s see each member’s picks, described in their own words.
Films and TV Shows to Watch By Elena
My best-loved film, or better said, series, is the Star Wars series. For me, underneath the mainstream storyline, lies a philosophical battle between light and dark, order and chaos, power and purpose. This revolutionary cinematic masterpiece is a fascinating mix of rebellion, myth, and technology.
Therefore, it hits both my logical and imaginative sides. If you haven’t seen it and you can’t decide what to watch tonight, now is the perfect time to start watching the Star Wars series!
Here’s a list of other movies and television series I love and recommend:
- Harry Potter series
- Runaway Jury
- The Game
- A Working Man
- The Big Bang Theory
- Modern Family
- Orphan Black
- Mad Men
- Hot in Cleveland

It’s always difficult to pick only one, but my back is against the wall here, so I have to try. I would say The Crow.
It’s a movie with a cult status, and one for which many cinephiles wish it had become a film series. The film creates a mix of grief, vengeance, and love, in a way that feels raw and dark while it’s also poetic and deeply human. The backstory and the fact that Brandon Lee died while filming this movie make it more sad yet real.
If this isn’t what you want to watch this weekend, here’s a short list of other films and shows I recommend:
- The Prestige
- Equilibrium
- Moulin Rouge!
- Split
- Lie to Me
- Sherlock
- Misfits
- Brooklyn Nine-Nine
- Death Note
By the way, my favorite character is Magneto from X-Men!

Well, I guess it’s my turn. I’ll choose Requiem for a Dream.
I love it since it’s honest, brutal, and devastatingly accurate about how one small decision, good or bad, can follow you throughout your entire life. Aside from the excellent cast and Darren Aronofsky’s directing, I also love the film’s sound design and cinematography. Also, the way it makes you feel consequences deep in your gut, even after the credits roll. Of course, it’s not an easy watch, but it’s certainly a masterpiece.
If you have already seen this movie, here are other films and shows I recommend:

Film directors and artists may have the privilege of saying, “I can’t pick one since all my movies are like my children.” I don’t have that luxury, nor do I want it, so it’s much easier to pick a favorite.
I would say Scorsese’s Shutter Island. There are many reasons, aside from the obvious, such as the cast. DiCaprio in the leading role, Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, Emily Mortimer, Patricia Clarkson, etc. I love it because of its psychological twist, which reframes the story. It keeps you guessing, blending mystery, drama, and even horror. Also, the ending sparks a debate and makes you rewatch it again.
Other films and shows that I recommend are the following:

Since I’m finishing this article that will help you pick what to watch this weekend, I decided to create a more alternative list.
My pick is W.R.: Mysteries of the Organism by legendary filmmaker Dusan Makavejev. A film that was banned for over 15 years and one of the most alternative movies of all time. I usually say that it’s pointless to explain it; it’s better to watch it. However, it’s a film that combines and examines sex and politics via psychology. It’s a mix of fiction and documentary, exploring Wilhelm Reich’s work.
Since I don’t often watch television shows, I’ll pick one, let’s say Fleabag. If you don’t know what to watch tonight on streaming, Fleabag is an excellent choice.
However, I’ll list more movies, which I certainly recommend you watch this weekend:
- Amadeus
- The Pusher Trilogy
- Cold War
- The Double Life of Veronique
- Three Colors Trilogy
- Call Me by Your Name
- Before the Rain
- Wild Strawberries
- The Hand of God
- Fight Club
Final Words on What to Watch This Weekend
Two things are certain. One, now you don’t have to ask what to watch this weekend? Two, you know that Opullex can make your dream come true by hand-crafting a metal art piece resembling your favorite movie or character.
Due to copyright issues, they can’t make a replica. On the other hand, it’s even better since they can create a custom art piece tailored to your idea and desire, which is more authentic.
Enough reading, go watch and enjoy these cinematic creations!
